A 7-Step Body Care Routine for Glowing Skin

A 7-Step Body Care Routine for Glowing Skin

When it comes to skincare, it’s all too easy to focus on the face and forget about the rest of the body. This is especially the case in the winter months – with your body hidden under layers of clothing and only your face on display, surely it makes sense to concentrate your efforts in this area?

While the skin on your body is thicker and more resilient to damage, as well as daily wear and tear, it needs some TLC too, just like your face. When it comes to your body care routine, it’s up to you how complex you want to get. Keep it simple with just one or two steps or show your skin some love with a 10-step ritual that pampers your body.

Not sure where to begin when it comes to body care? Celestolite is about to explain. Here’s a 7-step body care routine that encompasses all of the basics, as well as a few extras to make your skin feel even more special.

It Always Starts With a Cleanse

Any skincare routine, whether for the face or the body, should begin with a cleanser. This ensures that all of the dirt, oil, dead skin cells, and other impurities that are sitting on the surface of your skin are removed prior to applying any other products.

If you don’t cleanse, anything that you apply to your skin won’t be properly absorbed. As a result, they won’t work properly, making them a waste of money.

When it comes to cleansing your body, a gentle body wash is a good way to go. Look for a lightweight formula that won’t leave your skin feeling sticky.

Can you use a facial cleanser on your body?

Technically, yes, but it may not be very effective. The skin on the face is thinner than the skin on the body. This means that a cleanser designed for delicate facial skin most likely won’t be able to make its way through the tougher skin on the body.

One final body cleansing tip:

Don’t forget to pay attention to water temperature when cleansing your body. Hot water will strip your skin of the natural oils that protect it from environmental damage. Turn the temperature down to lukewarm, or even to cool if you can handle it. Your skin will thank you!

Exfoliate Away Rough and Dull Skin Cells

Celestolite body exfoliant

While the skin naturally sheds dead skin cells, the rate at which it does so slows down with age. This is where exfoliation comes in. This body care technique enables you to give your skin a helping hand when it comes to removing those dulling dead skin cells.

Adding regular exfoliation into your body care routine will help to keep the skin on your body looking smooth, soft, and radiant.

How regular is regular?

This depends on your skin type. People with oily or combination skin may need to exfoliate their body three times a week. On the other hand, those with dry or sensitive skin may only need a weekly exfoliation session in their body care routines.

Either way, make sure that you pick an exfoliator that isn’t too harsh on the skin. Yes, the skin on the body may be thicker and tougher, but it’s still prone to the same micro-tears and surface damage as the skin on the face.

How do you find a good exfoliator for your body? Look no further – meet the Radiant Body Exfoliant from Celestolite.

This body scrub is sea salt based. This natural ingredient has been used for centuries to improve the complexion in many ways. Thanks to the minerals and nutrients that it contains, sea salt gives the face a healthy-looking glow when used as an exfoliant.

So, what sets the Celestolite body care scrub apart from the other scrubs on the market?

The inclusion of meteorite powder. That’s our signature ingredient here at Celestolite. Why? Because just like sea salt, it’s loaded with minerals. So, in addition to physically exfoliating your skin, our scrub also treats your skin to a huge array of star-studded minerals that, when used regularly, enhances the appearance in many ways.

Tone

Celestolite Estrella Cleansing Kit

No, we’re not talking about toning up your muscles through exercise, although that would be a great addition to a body care routine. Instead, we’re talking about skincare toners – the same kind that you apply to your face.

Once you’re done in the shower, pat your skin dry and then dab your favorite facial toner onto any problem areas of your body. Whether this may be dry patches appearing on your chest, blemishes on your back, or loose skin on your knees, a good toner will help to give your skin some extra hydration. This will leave it looking firmer and fuller.

Don’t have a go-to facial toner yet?

You’re missing out! We would recommend the Skin Toner from Celestolite, which can be purchased as part of the Estrella Deluxe Cleansing System. This toner is infused with niacinamide to balance out the look of uneven, blemished skin. It also contains hyaluronic acid, a humectant with moisture-binding properties that deeply hydrates the skin. Just like all Celestolite products, you’ll also find meteorite powder in this toner as well.

Moisturize

Best body butter for dry skin

It’s important that you never leave your skin bare after exfoliating, even if you’ve applied a toner. While exfoliation removes the rough outer layer of dead skin cells, those skin cells served as an extra physical barrier between your other skin cells and the environment around you. And when it comes to the environment around you, there’s plenty out there that can cause some serious skin damage.

A moisturizer helps to form that additional layer that exfoliation removed, albeit temporarily. This makes a moisturizer a must in your body care routine.

So, how should you moisturize your body?

This depends on your skin type. A lightweight lotion or cream is all that’s needed for those of you prone to body acne breakouts. The Celestolite Hand and Body Cream works a treat for this. Shea butter forms the base of this cream, but don’t worry. Shea butter is rated a 0 on the comedogenic scale, meaning that it won’t clog pores and trigger breakouts. Instead, it’ll hydrate your skin while feeling breathable and lightweight.

For people with dry skin, a rich cream or a body butter would be better. Give the Celestolite Revitalizing Body Butter a try. It pairs perfectly with our body scrub and is brimming with a bigger concentration of shea butter than in our Hand and Body Cream. That said, it still feels non-greasy when applied.

Sun Protection

Celestolite Nova Bright Cream SPF

Sun protection is so important for your skin, and this applies to both your face and your body. You hopefully already have an SPF product that you use your face, but do you have one for your body too? Or, more importantly, do you actually use it?

We know what you’re thinking. Surely sunscreen is only necessary when the skin on your body is out on display?

Technically, yes. So long as the clothing that you’re wearing is able to block UV light, then your body is safe.

However, chances are that there will still be some parts of your body exposed to the sun throughout the year. Your hands, neck, ankles, legs, arms – depending on your outfit, you may not be showing much skin, but the skin that is showing will need to be protected.

To make matters a little easier, we’d recommend using your facial sunscreen if you only have a few small parts of your body to cover. Our sunscreen of choice? The Celestolite Nova Bright Skin Cream SPF 30.

This luxurious cream doubles up as a broad-spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen. This is the sun protection factor recommended by dermatologists for most people. The exception would be if you had sensitive skin – in this case, you’d need something higher.

In addition to protecting your skin from the sun, our sunscreen also helps to brighten the appearance and reduce the visibility of dark spots and wrinkles. It’s jam-packed with skin-loving ingredients, including vitamin A, vitamin E, aloe leaf extract, and green tea extract.

Simply slather some of the cream over any exposed areas of your body after applying it to your face. It couldn’t be simpler!

Mask Up

Celestolite Luna Lava Mask

Face masks have soared in popularity in recent years. As a result, it only makes sense that people have now started wondering if they should be lavishing the same care on their body too.

Never considered a body mask before?

While it’s true that a head-to-toe body mask may be a little extravagant, and possibly even uncomfortable, you can still treat specific parts of your body with the same masks that you use on your face.

For example, if you’d like your chest area to look smoother and tighter, treat it to the Celestolite Cosmic Firming Mask. It contains vitamin A, collagen, and DMAE to give the skin a firmer and tauter finish. Since the skin on the chest is pretty thin, this mask will work just as well there as it does on the face.

Alternatively, if you’ve always wished that your elbows and knees looked lighter in appearance, or you want to fade the visibility of dark spots on your arms and hands, turn to the Luna Lava Mask from Celestolite. This exquisite formula contains a long list of antioxidant-rich botanical extracts, along with a hefty dose of potent vitamins, to brighten the appearance. From vitamins A, C, and E to arnica, coffee, and Angelica root, you’ll love how this mask feels on your skin.

Another Celestolite face mask to consider adding to your body care routine would be the Mars Anti-Gravity Mask. This mask has been designed to lift and tone the look of the skin, so use it on areas of your body that have started to look a little loose and sagging. The neck, the thighs, and the upper arms are common victims.

Drink Plenty of Water

Woman drinking water

Ok, so this may not be a skincare tip, but it’s still worthy of including in your body care routine.

Paying attention to how much water you’re drinking each day can really transform your complexion. Your skin cells need water in order to function properly. They also need water in order to look good. Skin cells lacking in water will look sallow, tired, and dull. Even worse, dehydrated skin ages faster.

So, make a new commitment to your eight glasses a day. Buy yourself some new water bottles, download an app to motivate you – however you choose to do it, increase your water intake and your skin will love you for it.

Your New Body Care Routine

Once you’ve figured out exactly what you want to include in your body care routine, the key is to follow this routine regularly. Ideally, you’ll have one routine that you can follow each day, plus another one with weekly or bi-weekly extras, such as exfoliants and masks. Add in a few lifestyle goals too, such as drinking more water and exercising more, and your body will soon look better than it ever has!
