8 Body Skincare Tips You Need to Know

These days, we’re more in tune with the needs of the skin of our faces than we’ve ever been before. Half of us have bathroom drawers and cabinets overflowing with face care products whilst the other half can’t step outside the house without first following a twenty-seven-step regimen!

Whilst this is all well and good, many tend to put all of their efforts into caring for the skin on their faces, but very little towards the skin on their bodies.

Well, no more! It’s time to give the skin you’re in some serious TLC and Celestolite is about to show you how. Here are 8 comprehensive body skincare tips you need to know…

Cleanse Your Face… Then Cleanse All Over

Cleansing our bodies each time we take a shower?

Um, not so much.

We’re so busy making sure our faces stay free of dirt, dry skin, and leftover makeup we often forget to think about our bods. Save for a speedy rub down with whatever shower gel is closest at the time that is.

Well, it’s time to start including our bodies in our cleansing routines. Not only do we want to, of course, stay clean and smelling fresh, we also want to properly rid the skin below our chin of dirt, sweat, and any other nasties we naturally encounter in a day. So, once you’ve applied your Celestolite Estrella Cleanser Mousse to your face, give your body a once-over with your favorite body wash too. 

Not doing that can lead to skin irritation and also won’t help your body to absorb any creams or oils you do treat it to after your shower.

That means we need to be thorough. And no, we’re not suggesting you carve out an hour a day to clean your body (though we know that’s how long you take on your facial skincare routine!). We just mean that your body deserves the same cleansing attention as you give your face. Your skin will thank you for it.

Don’t Forget Your Elbows


When you’re smoothing your favorite cream or body butter onto your skin (we highly recommend the Celestolite Revitalizing Body Butter), making sure to cover your arms, legs, butt, and torso is easy. They’re in each reach and hard to forget!

When it comes to other places, however, namely our elbows, let’s be honest, we’ve all been guilty of neglecting their moisturization needs.

But how does it happen?

We think we know…

You do your shoulders, move down to your upper arms, onto your forearms, and you’re done, right? Well, next time, take a moment to consider those poor elbows of yours. Because we can bet, even if you don’t miss them out altogether, you’re not giving them, the attention they crave.

For most of us, elbows are hands down the driest areas on our arms, if not our entire bodies. That’s because the skin here is pretty different from the rest of the skin on our arms. It’s a lot thicker, and also has far fewer sebaceous glands than the rest of our skin. 

With this in mind, you can see why your elbows are crying out for extra moisture and why they deserve to get it!

Now, as if the elbows weren’t enough, we also have it on good authority you’ve been neglecting to adequately moisturize the skin on your back!

After all, unless you’re a highly-skilled contortionist, being able to easily reach every area of your back and make sure it’s properly hydrated is seriously tough. 

So, here are a few tricks we’ve learned that might help.

  • Use a moisturizing cleanser – Seeing as we can’t always be sure we’ve reached every inch of our backs with moisturizer, at least we’ll have upped the hydration in that area by using a moisturizing cleanser beforehand.   • Utilize the back of your hand – It may sound strange, but you’d be surprised how much further up your back you can reach when you use the back of your hand! Apply a little of your favorite moisturizer to the backs of your fingers and you’ll easily cover more skin. 
  • Invest in an applicator – Luckily, we’re not the first to experience this dilemma meaning there are actually applicators in existence designed to target those hard-to-reach areas if you’re sick of twisting and bending trying to reach them. 
  • Ask a friend – If you happen to live with your partner or a close friend you know won’t mind lending a hand, save yourself the trouble and ask them to help! 

Treat Your Neck As You Do Your Face


So we’re moisturizing our bodies, we’re certainly moisturizing our faces, what about our necks?

Yes, we know the neck is part of the body of course but we often forget to include it in either one of these routines. That’s no good. After all, though aging is a completely natural and beautiful thing, many of us do like to achieve a visibly more youthful appearance where we can.

With this in mind, make sure you’re no longer neglecting your neck from your skincare regimens. After all, it’s often one of the first places on our bodies that we’ll start to notice age lines as the skin here is thinner than in many other places.

Simply, treat it as you do the skin on your face.

Treat Your Skin Before and After You Shave

Don’t you just love shaving?

No, us neither.

And whilst there’s absolutely no reason why we can’t let the hair on our bodies grow free, sometimes, we do want to be rid of it and shaving is often the quickest and most accessible method.

So, when you do decide to shave any area of your body, please, we beg of you, make sure to prep the area beforehand. 

Let’s say for example you decide to shave your legs. Going straight in with a razor not only puts your skin at risk of dryness and irritation, but it also means you might be grazing over ingrown hairs and areas of very dry skin, making them worse.

To combat this, simply take a few minutes to gently exfoliate the area first with the Celestolite Radiant Body Exfoliant

And, do so softly so as not to cause aggravation. The reason for exfoliating first is it’ll help make sure each hair is fully out of the follicle. This prevents nasty ingrown hairs from forming and will lessen the chance of skin irritation as the blade glides over your skin.

Once you get to the shaving part, always smooth on a shaving gel or balm first so you’re not running the blade directly over the skin. 

Once you’re done and have rinsed the area, be sure to gently pat it dry, then apply a quality moisturizer to keep your skin feeling hydrated and silky smooth!

Help Your Body Glow From Head To Toe


When taking care of the skin on our bodies, it’s easy to forget about certain parts. The one we’re always guilty of neglecting? Our feet. They carry us as we walk, pound the pavement as we run, and sometimes even put up with hours on end of dancing… in heels!

Give them the love they deserve and make sure to treat your feet every once in a while.

Soak & Clean

Start by soaking your feet in warm, but not hot, water for around 15 minutes. This will not only soften up the feel of the skin, but it’ll also feel amazingly relaxing after a long day. Use a hydrating cleanser to clean your feet making sure to go right up to the ankles and in between your toes, then rinse.

Exfoliate

Next, gently exfoliate them with a loofah, a foot brush, or pumice stone, whatever works for you. Just make sure you’re able to gently remove any dry, or hard skin. Just don’t be too rough or you could cause irritation or blisters.

Pat

It may be tempting to scrub your feet dry with a towel once you’re done but this will only dehydrate the skin and undo all that great soaking work you just did. Instead, softly pat them dry with a clean hand towel.

Moisturize

Once your feet are dry, go ahead and treat them to an extra dose of moisture. Use it all over your body, then make sure not to forget about your feet. Gently massage it in and, once again, don’t forget about those ankles and toes!

Trust Us… Invest In A Dry Brush

As we all know, exfoliation is one of the best and most simple ways we can improve the feel and appearance of our skin.

One of our favorite and top recommended ways to make sure your entire body gets the exfoliation it needs and deserves, is dry brushing. And yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like.

  • Firstly, make sure your skin is dry. Not dry as in flaky, dry as in free of creams and oils.
  • Next, take your dry brush and, starting from the ankle, begin brushing upwards along your skin, towards your heart, in long, steady strokes. Apply a little pressure but definitely not so much that it hurts at all. The idea is to get the blood flow going and promote healthy circulation not to make your skin red and sore!
  • By stroking towards the heart, you’re encouraging correct blood flow which will energize your skin making look and feel healthier and smoother.
  • Once you’ve brushed over your whole body (avoiding super sensitive areas!) go ahead and hop in a lukewarm, not hot, shower.
  • Once you’re out, pat your skin dry, and slather on your favorite body butter to lock in the moisture! We recommend the Venus night cream if you’re treating yourself to an evening pamper session. 

This straightforward technique takes only around ten minutes to complete and will leave your skin feeling softer and more awake than it’s ever felt before.

Give Yourself A Hand


We hate to tell you this but carrying around an expired tube of hand cream in your purse and using it once a week really won’t do much for the skin on your hands.

And, seeing as they do so much for us, we really feel they deserve just as much love and care as we give to our faces. Just a few simple changes to your daily routine can make a huge difference to the skin on your hands.

Firstly, stop using super hot water and harsh soaps to clean them. This will only dry out the skin. Instead, use warm water and a moisturizing hand wash. You’ll still be able to make sure they’re thoroughly clean but won’t irritate or inflame the skin in the process.

Secondly, don’t scrub them dry with a towel. Either allow them to air dry, or blot them gently to remove the excess moisture. Much kinder.

Lastly, go ahead and treat your hands to a moisturizer that’s made just for them, such as the Hand and Body Cream from Celestolite.
